2 Yorks Ready Their Sandbags At Flood Training
2 Yorks, based in Catterick are currently one of the UK's 3 standby battalions - ready to deploy at a moments notice, should the UK need their help.
One of their very possible taskings is dealing with floods and this morning, on an abandoned industrial estate just south of York, they've been learning how to fight the forces of nature.
Since floods last year an extra £45 million has been spent in Yorkshire alone – a good deal of it on permanent flood defences in York, Leeds and Mytholmroyd.
The environment agency have gone from having 8km of these temporary barriers to 40km for use across the country.
