Army Bomb Experts Probe 'Explosive Material' Find In House
Two people have been arrested on suspicion of explosives offences after potentially dangerous material was found at a property.

Homes around an address in the Parkwood area of Keighley, West Yorkshire (pictured above), were evacuated as a precaution as Army bomb disposal experts were brought in to assist officers from the North East Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) on Sunday evening.

Despite the involvement of the CTU, the incident is not being treated as terror-related.

A 48-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman remain in police custody, the CTU confirmed. A spokeswoman said:
"Potentially explosive material was discovered during searches at a residential address in Keighley yesterday and the Army's bomb disposal unit attended from Catterick".
She added that the immediate area had been cordoned off and local residents evacuated.

A detailed search of the area took place and any potentially dangerous material was taken away.

Residents have since returned home, but searches continue today.

The spokeswoman also said that she would like to reassure residents that the arrests made were intelligence-led and not done as a response to any immediate threat.
