Army Helping To Bring Normality Back To Cumbria
A week after Cumbria was hit by devastating flooding, the military is still hard at work, helping to restore some kind of normality to the communities there.
One badly-hit area was the town of Appleby, where heavy rain caused the local river to rise by more than seven feet, causing havoc for many homeowners and businesses.
Troops from Arnhem Company, 2 LANCS, have been helping to clear the streets there (see above).
The vital task of repairing bridges and opening up main roads has been left to the Army's crack team of engineers, meanwhile.
Forces TV's Hannah King went to the village of Thirlmere where 21 Engineer Regiment is continuing its work.
Tim Cooper has been at the heart of The Lakes, in the market town of Keswick, where the military has provided manpower, determination and sheer hard work to help communities affected by the floods there.
Teams of troops and army engineers have worked day and night to clear roads, repair bridges and to deliver much need supplies to people.
Meanwhile, a famous sporting face visited Carlisle to support some of the worst affected families there and thank troops for all their hard work.
