The Art Of Urban Warfare
3,000 NATO troops have been working together in Germany on Exercise Venerable Gauntlet.
It's designed to test cooperation between different militaries before they join up to form the Very High Readiness Joint Taskforce.
In a series of war games the Polish Army were tasked with guarding the purpose built, urban warfare complex on the Sennelager ranges, unsure when the first attack, by the Queens Royal Hussars in their Challenger 2 tanks and the Estonian Scout Brigade would take place.
Using lasers, along with firing blanks, the challenge allowed assessments to be made about the effectiveness of each shot made with the Tactical Engagement System (TES).
They were working alongside 35 Engineer Regiment, who are able to clear obstacles with Trojan and Terrier vehicles, as well as troops from the Princess of Wales Royal Regiment who engaged in close combat.
This is all part of the UK’s validation exercise for the Very High Readiness Joint Taskforce (Land) or VJTF(L), which will be led by 20th Armoured Infantry Brigade from January 2017.
The entire taskforce will consist of around 20,000 personnel including land, air, maritime and special forces components.
