British Soldiers Train Alongside Sierra Leone's Military For The First Time

British soldiers have begun training alongside troops from Sierra Leone for the first time, the Ministry of Defence have announced.

In a statement, the MoD said that it was important to maintain combat readiness whilst supporting security in Africa.

In 2000, former Chief of the Defence Staff General Lord Richards, went beyond his official mandate when faced with appalling violence in one of the poorest countries of the world.

Against orders he sent in troops to fight the Revolutionary United Front, and within weeks they were defeated.
