British Veterans Receive Legion d'Honneur In London Ceremony

15 British veterans have received France's highest military decoration, the Legion d'Honneur, at a ceremony in central London.

It's to reward their part in the liberation of the country 70 years ago, during the Second World War.

It comes after a defence minister said in July that hundreds of British D-Day veterans will receive the honour before the end of the year, after months of delays.

Mark Lancaster told MPs he understood "hurt and upset" had been caused by the delays, which occurred after Ministry of Defence officials were caught out by the level of demand for the award.
