Giant Chalk Poppy To Grace Wiltshire Landscape

A giant chalk poppy is to be carved into a Wiltshire hillside as part of the World War One centenary commemorations.

It’ll sit alongside eight other historic military symbols cut into the chalk hill, Fovant Down, which are known as the Fovant Badges.

The first were created by troops training there 100 years ago, prior to heading to the trenches.

Now, a Heritage Lottery Grant of more than £50,000 will see a new badge join them on the hillside for the first time in almost 50 years.
