Incident Near Army Base "Not Suspicious"

Police have confirmed that an incident near Bulford Camp last night did not involve any suspicious activity.
Armed police and a helicopter were sent out on Thursday night after reports that three people were seen with what appeared to be a rifle, near Bulford military camp in Wiltshire.
After nothing was found, police later located and spoke to the members of public seen in the area at the time, before confirming that they were not involved in any suspicious activity. South Sector Acting Inspector Vince Logue said:
"With recent events, both in the UK and abroad, it is understandable that we are seeing an increase in calls from members of the public reporting suspicious behaviour. It is only right that we fully investigate calls of this nature. Thankfully, this incident turned out to be non-suspicious."
"We would continue to urge residents to report any suspicious behaviour to police on 101, or 999 if it is an emergency."
An Army spokesman, meanwhile, said:
"The security of our personnel and their families is of paramount importance and kept under constant review. We do not comment on specific security arrangements."
Bulford Camp is a British Army base on Salisbury Plain and is just over two miles northeast of Amesbury.
The 'incident' came after an attempted abduction of a serviceman at RAF Marham on Wednesday.
