#IRemember: Ray Winstone Joins Our Campaign
The actor Ray Winstone has paid tribute to injured troops and medical staff he met during morale-boosting visits to Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
The Sexy Beast star made two visits to QEH, both organised by CSE Forces Entertainment, in 2010 and 2012. He also visited Camp Bastion in Afghanistan in 2009.
Mr Winstone, who currently filming in Vancouver, Canada, made a short video to lend his support to our #IRemember campaign. He said:
"This Remembrance Day I’ll be thinking about the boys and girls, the injured I met at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. I’ll be thinking about their mums and dads and the medical staff that look after them so well."
"I’ll also be thinking about my trip to Camp Bastion and the boys and girls I met there – the medical teams, the bomb disposal unit, the ground forces, boys and girls serving their country, the living and the dead. That’s what I’ll be thinking about this November. I’m very proud to have met you."
If you’d like to join our #IRemember campaign in the run-up to Armistice Day you can post brief tributes to relatives or loved ones who served our country, using the #IRemember hashtag on social media.
They might have seen action in either World War, they might have served in peacetime, they might have been killed in action or lived a long and happy life after leaving the forces; they might have not have served in uniform but supported the war effort in another way. It’s up to you to remember whoever you choose.
To take part in #IRemember, you can use our BFBS and Forces TV Facebook pages – you can just add your memories in the comments section of our posts.
If you want to use Twitter, make sure you use the #IRemember hashtag and tag us in using our @bfbs handle
