Unmanned Rotary Winged Device

The Ministry of Defence says it will research and develop technology which could support military personnel on the battlefield, in an £8m deal with Leonardo Helicopters.

The deal will focus on unmanned rotary wing devices and will use the expertise of workers at Leonardo Helicopters to explore new technologies.

Defence Secretary Sir Michael Fallon described the work as "innovative".

Sir Michael will make the official announcement during a speech on innovation at Oxford University on Monday.
