Smells Like Team Spirit: Sports Teams Honour The Forces

In the US, sports teams have begun a campaign to pay tribute to the Armed Forces and veterans.

Throughout this month, sides like NBA team Miami Heat are showing their gratitude.

On the court, they've swapped their usual red kit for something in khaki as a nod to the forces.

But in the more detailed aspect of these kits, the players are saying thank you – to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

Each vest bears the name of a service man or woman who never made it home – and their families have seen the names of their loved ones recognised in this tribute.

And the recognition isn't stopping inside the arenas.

The Miami Heat organisation have also taken their show of gratitude out into the local community to make sure veterans know their service is recognised.
