Watch: Russia Shows What Its Newest Tank Can Do
Russia has released footage of an exercise involving its new T-14 Armata tank, showing off its capabilities for the first time.
It shows the vehicle negotiating small hills and trenches, as well as footage of mock tank battles that took place during strategic exercises nine years ago.
The video was filmed at a private demonstration during the 'Army-2016' military and technology forum, held in the Moscow region earlier this month.
The Т-14 was officially unveiled in Russia's World War Two Victory Parade in spring 2015 - after suffering an apparent embarrassing breakdown during rehearsals.
100 have now been built, and are expected to enter into service from next year.
At a cost of around 250 million roubles (£3m) per vehicle, the basic models carry 125mm guns, although this can be upgraded to a 152-mm weapon.
They're capable of firing 10 shots a minute at a range of up to 4.5 miles.
The Russian Army plans to have 2,300 T-14s by 2020. Currently, the country has over 2,700 tanks in active service, with a further 17,500 in reserve.
