Woman Arrested For 'Urinating On War Memorial'

A woman has been charged with outraging public decency after a war memorial was allegedly urinated on.
Kelly Martin, 42, was charged on Saturday in connection with an incident in Grays, Essex Police said.
Pictures on social media on July 1 alleged an offence was being carried out, as the nation marked the 100th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme, which claimed thousands of lives in 1916.
Martin, of Lucas Road in Grays, has been remanded in custody to appear at Basildon Magistrates Court on Monday.
War memorials can be the targets of denigration, be they deliberate or accidental, such as when a rally car did donuts at the Cenotaph on Whitehall, in London, for the BBC's Top Gear.
Historic England has called for war memorials to receive greater protection.
