Army and RAF enjoy success at Inter Services Diving Championships
Divers from the British Army and the Royal Air Force have walked away with individual and team titles at the Inter Services Diving Championships in Aldershot.
Divers perform six dives in each of the springboard and platform diving disciplines, where total scores count towards the team total as well as the individual tally.
The women's competition was dominated by RAF diver AS1 Charlotte Goodman, who took home the spoils in the individual springboard and platform diving events.
AS1 Goodman grew up in the sport, but returned to diving when she joined the Air Force after initially hanging up her swimsuit 10 years ago.
Along with her teammates, her impressive dives also helped the Royal Air Force to win the women's team title over the Army.
The men's competition was a similar story, as WO2 Chris Taylor from the Army performed intricate dives with higher tariffs compared to his competitors.
He won the men's springboard and platform titles as well as lifting the Army to win the men's team title.
Reacting to his win, WO2 Taylor said that it was a "brilliant result".
He said: "My springboard competition went really well, the scores I had achieved were probably one of the best I had got.
"However, going into platform, I wasn't that confident.
"There's a few dives on there that are quite nervy but, overall, it was a brilliant result."
Also serving as the Army Diving Team Manager, WO2 Taylor hopes to get more personnel involved in the sport.
"We just encourage people to come down," he said. "A lot of our divers are new to the sport, it is a very niche sport within the Army.
"If you have a gymnastics or trampolining background, we thoroughly encourage you to come along.
"Today was a brilliant success for their hard work over the last week at the Army Diving training camp, so really, really well done to all the team members and the RAF for their performance today," he added.
