Army win third consecutive Inter Services title in exhilarating night of boxing

Watch: Military boxers take the ring as the Army retain their Inter Services title.

The Army have retained their Inter Services Boxing title after an action-packed evening at HMS Drake in Plymouth.

Competing were fighters from all three services, including UKAF female bouts for the second time ever after female boxing was introduced to the Inter Services last year.

Last year's winner, the Navy's Air Engineering Technician Britney Walker, won her 54kg bout against the Army's Craftsman Niamh Brooks, whilst the RAF's Air specialist (Class 1) Frankie Lyall beat her opponent, the Army's Private Lily Devlin, by a split decision.

In the men's 67kg, it was the Army's Private Jordan Shaw's win over his Navy opponent AS1 Taylor Andrew that officially secured the Army's victory, after the Army had already had some wins in the bag due to several walkovers.

One of the highlights of the evening was the 86kg bout between the Army's Corporal Nick Wright and Royal Marine Joel Hassan, who both put on a fantastic boxing display that received a standing ovation from the audience.

This is the Army's third consecutive Inter Services win after they won in 2019 and 2022, with the event cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to Covid-19.
