Army cricketer celebrates breaking historic run record
British Army cricketer Amanda Potgieter has become the first player in the history of Army cricket to score 6,000 runs.
Confirmation of the runs record was made at the Women's Inter Services T20 Championship at Arundel – where the Army dominated against the Royal Navy on the way to the title.
For the 20-year veteran of Army cricket, the achievement came as something of a surprise.
She said: "It was a surprise but a huge honour to be in that position.

"I knew of it last year – that it was coming up. I gave myself a couple of seasons."
Potgieter has scored 14 centuries and 30 half-centuries with an average of 97.03 during her Army career.
