Army retain Inter Services T20 after rain derails final match
The British Army have retained the Inter Services for the fourth consecutive year after rain derailed the tournament's final match against the Royal Air Force.
The Army played the Royal Navy earlier in the day, winning 145-7 - the Navy played well in the field but were unable to match the Army's runs, finishing on 126-10.
The Royal Navy's loss against the Army and against the RAF in Portsmouth meant their hopes of winning the Inter Services were well and truly batted away.
The Army then switched their attention to the RAF and after winning the coin toss, they elected to bat first.
The Army batted well and slowly built up their runs, with Sergeant Jay Boynton standing out among the batsmen to give the Army an edge.
In the end, the Army surpassed the total they achieved against the Navy, with a convincing 150 for 8 against the RAF.
The light blues fought hard to get the runs but came up against a well-organised Army team in the field.
The RAF sat at 45 for 2 when the rain arrived, and the game had to pause as event organisers brought out covers.
The rain kept coming and it became clear the game could not continue, so it was decided that the Army would win the Inter Services for the fourth consecutive time by four runs, as calculated by the Duckworth Lewis Method.
