New-look Navy U23s targeting third consecutive Inter Services triumph

Watch: Royal Navy U23s head coach speaks to Forces Sport ahead of the Navy's Inter Services opener

The Royal Navy U23s are coming into this year's Inter Services Championships as the reigning back-to-back champions, but they're also coming with a different look.

The man who led the Navy to the Inter Services trophy in 2022 and 2023, Lieutenant Commander Chris James, has now made the step up to coach the senior team, and taking the baton from him to coach the U23s is Royal Marine  Captain Stu Morgan.

As well as a number of fresh players who will be making their U23s debut at the Inter Services, Capt Morgan emphasises that the changes are a "fresh line in the sand" for the team.

"We are a good outfit, what's happened before is out of our control now so it's a fresh line in the sand," the Navy head coach said.

"It's not the three-peat for us, it's our first year effectively.

"You've only got four or five faces in a 20-man squad that have been in those successful years, so it's really, really brand new for us," he added.

The Navy will face the British Army in Aldershot, who will be looking to right the wrongs of their Inter Services opener against the Royal Air Force, where they lost 2-0.

All three Inter Services under-23s matches will be live on the Forces News YouTube channel.
