The rivalry returns: Watch UK Armed Forces v Irish Defence Forces football live

The UK Armed Forces women have beaten the Irish Defence Forces 7-0 and the men are going head-to-head in Northern Ireland.

In the women's match, a goal from Megan Herbert put the UKAF women 1-0 up at half time but they had to change gears after the break.

Anthea Kaptein, in her last appearance for UKAF, scored the second with Jeorgia Carr adding a third only minutes later. 

The fourth was an unfortunate own goal from the Irish defence forces – not what they deserved after a strong and spirited performance – but UKAF found the gear change they were seeking with Kaptein adding another two for her hat-trick as well as a header from Abby Hayes giving UKAF another comfortable victory over their Irish opposition.

UKAF men have won both of the last two matches, including a 4-1 win in 2023 which included an incredible long-range strike from the RAF's Joe Spalding.

The last win for the Irish Defence Forces came in 2021 in a penalty shoot-out victory after a 95th-minute equaliser.
