The UK Armed Forces women’s team have won the President’s Cup after a commanding 3-0 win over the Dutch Armed Forces at Sporting Khalsa FC.

It is the UKAF women’s first President’s Cup win since 2019 after years of heartbreak in their President Cup campaigns since.

The Dutch came in as the reigning champions with their eyes on taking the President’s Cup trophy back to the Netherlands for another year.

The Dutch gave UKAF a challenging first half, with goalkeeper Jaimie-Lee Bamford having to fend off some Dutch shots on goal on numerous occasions.

UKAF also had a number of missed opportunities inside the box, but as half time was approaching, RAF star Pip Wilson struck the ball into the net to give the home team a 1-0 lead going into the second half.

The second half began much like the first half with the teams once again not giving away an inch to their opponents.

After a period of stalemate, Libby Dixon was the one to break through the Dutch defence to give the UKAF team a 2-0 lead.

Minutes later and in the closing moments of the game, Jade Berrow followed up with a goal of her own to extend UKAF’s lead to 3-0 and a lead that would almost guarantee UKAF the President’s Cup win.

AT the final whistle, UKAF end their 5-year wait to lift the President’s Cup Trophy with the Dutch Forces facing a trip back to the Netherlands empty handed.

The UKAF women’s success comes after the Royal Air Force men beat the Dutch Air Force earlier in the day.

They now turn their attention to an away game in Germany where they’ll play the German Bundeswehr on 8 June.
