Why Jake Gosling could be the key factor in RAF men's football title challenge

Watch: See why Jake Gosling will be a player to keep an eye on in Wednesday's live coverage

The RAF are hunting for another men's Inter Services football championship - and one player who could be the key to success is Corporal Jake Gosling.

The former Gibraltar international and Football League star with Bristol Rovers has been a constant in the RAF midfield for a number of years, including the last two seasons where the RAF were successful.

He's also been a major part of the UK Armed Forces team that won five Kentish Cups in the last six editions of the competition.

"He's just a confidence boost," said the RAF captain, Sergeant Michael Campbell.

"You always feel like whether you're losing a game or are drawing a game, that because he's wearing your shirt, at some point he's going to produce something."

After featuring for sides such as Exeter City, Forest Green Rovers, Cambridge United, Torquay United and Newport County, Gosling focused on a career in the RAF while still playing competitive football at RAF and UKAF level.

When describing his playing style, Gosling said: "I like to get involved on the ball. I try and create for others.

"Mainly, I like setting other people up and seeing them go and take the glory. Try and be a match-winner."

You can watch the title-deciding men's RAF v Navy clash LIVE on the BFBS Sports Show YouTube channel from 18:45 on Wednesday 20 March.
