Forces Athletes Face Tough Conditions In Meribel

Snow overnight and changeable weather conditions put the blue riband event - the Alpine Ski Downhill - under threat.

But yet again, the work of the hill team ensured things could proceed as normal…

The racers only get one run and in the men's event, all competitors made it down.

Fresh from his win in the Telemark slalom on Monday, James French swapped to alpine skis and made it to the podium again.

He was third behind the Army duo of Joe Williamson and Euan Kick.

Euan is a new face this year and also trains with the British ski team.

In the ladies event, the ever reliable Caitlin Wroe again came out on top.

Her main rival, Army skier Lizzie Cranfield, didn't finish the race but Caitlin now sees competition within the air force ranks.

First timer Rachel Hughes of the RAF came in second with the Navy's Holly Henderson in third.

Currently, the snowboarders are back in action in the Parallel Giant Slalom under floodlights.
