Diving into the weekend: Team UK make a splash on Day 6 of Invictus Games action

WATCH: Team UK secure swimming success at Invictus Games

There has been plenty of Team UK success in the pool on day six of sporting competition at the Invictus Games in Vancouver.

In a change of pace from wheelchair rugby yesterday, it has been swimming action all day at the University of British Columbia's Aquatic Centre - the world-class facility is a real privilege for these Invictus competitors to compete in.

Swimming is one of those sports at the Invictus games where almost every competitor can be involved and, traditionally, Team UK have always picked up a lot of medals on this competition day and they did just that, adding 10 more to their collection, one gold, four silver and five bronzes.

BFBS Forces News spoke to some of Team UK swimmers in between their heats.

Keanen Murphy, Terry Jones and Nisar Utmanzai wanted to chat, not just about the sport they were involved in, but about their overall experiences out here in Canada

"I've done a lot better than I thought I would, not just in the sports but just in my ability to prove to myself and others that I can actually do this," said Keanen.

Terry added: "We're all from different sides of the military, it's nice that we all get along and share this journey together."

"Swimming it not my strongest suit, but the fact that I've had to learn to swim to join the Royal Navy to now coming fifth is not bad", said.

The pace of the games has slowed a little bit since the three days spent in Whistler, with just one sport being competed daily but the team sports still get the adrenaline pumping in both players and spectators.

It's the turn of sitting volleyball on Saturday before indoor rowing and the closing ceremony brings the proceedings to a close on Sunday.
