May The Course Be With You: Cross Country Championships At Sandhurst

More than 500 men and women have taken part in this year's Army Cross Country Championships - the biggest turnout yet.

The women's race took place over a 4.5km course and attracted entries from across the Army.

There was no stopping Lauren Hall, who destroyed the rest of the field in a time of 17 minutes and 18 seconds.

It was a similar story in the men's event, with seven titles up for grabs - a massive field - but one man would dominate the race.

Major Ady Whitwam, with three successive titles to his name, was always a strong favourite to defend it again.

With nine and a half kilometres to tackle, he was well prepared despite suffering from a cold.

And in a time of 32 minutes 39 seconds, Ady was unbeatable, gaining his fourth successive title.
