Chaos Corner: Navy Alpine skier breaks his skis at tricky part of Meribel course
A number of debutants tackled the Alpine Downhill race at Meribel and one corner in particular is causing a major headache.
'Chaos Corner', as it’s been dubbed by competitors, resulted in a number of skiers failing to finish their runs.
That included Royal Navy skier Marine Hugo White, who ended his first race at Meribel with a pair of broken skis but, thankfully, no injuries.

"Going into the corner, I sort of lost my edge a little bit on the snow and then I suddenly wasn't on the snow anymore," said the Navy team member. "I was sort of upside down and on my back sliding into the gate.
"They use [the corner] for the Telemark as well so they have to piste over it every day."
When examining his now-broken equipment, Mne White explained the damages to BFBS Forces News.
He said: "The bolt from the double deck has come off the board and the wooden side is splintered. The metal, and everything pretty much, has bent in one direction. It's very unusual.
"[The team] were quite nice. They were obviously very sympathetic."
