New generation of service weightlifters express high ambitions at Inter Services Championships

Watch: Weightlifters compete at the Inter Services Weightlifting Championships in Aldershot.

The best weightlifters in the Armed Forces have descended to Aldershot for the Inter Services Championships,  which included some fresh faces representing the new generation of weightlifters in the military.

One of them is Army weightlifter Officer Cadet Bella Brown, who has already begun making a name for herself on the national and international scenes, becoming British champion and a junior European bronze medallist earlier this year.

Making her Inter Services debut, Officer Cadet Brown is scheduled to compete at the Junior World Championships in Mexico as she continues on her pathway to competing at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

In the men's competition, Air Specialist Class 1 Josh Hibbs recorded personal bests in his lifts at this year's Inter Services.

The RAF firefighter also has his sights set on international competition after being invited to train with the Scotland pathways squad.

This year's championships come at an exciting time for the sport across the services, after UK Armed Forces Weightlifting launched a landmark new partnership with British Weightlifting, opening more doors for service athletes to succeed at the highest level.
