Major Jen Kehoe Retires From Elite Sport To Focus On British Army Career

Paralympic gold medallist Major Jen Kehoe MBE has announced she is retiring from elite sport to focus on her career in the British Army.
The decision puts an end to a hugely successful partnership between Maj Kehoe and Menna Fitzpatrick.
Maj Kehoe guided Fitzpatrick to not only the Paralympic gold in 2016 but also two world championships during their time together.
In a joint statement on their Instagram page, they explained the decision, saying: "We have been working hard to find a way to enable us to train and compete together but we have encountered too many challenges out of our control.
"Jen has made the difficult decision to retire from elite sport to resume her career in the British Army while Menna will continue to compete for GB in Para-alpine skiing with a new guide.
"Our incredible partnership and friendship started in 2015 and we could not have dreamt of what the future held for us; achievements include winning 6 Overall World Cup Crystal Globes, becoming 2 x World Champions, Paralympic Champions and most decorated Winter Paralympian, awarded MBEs, presenting a BAFTA and many, many more incredible opportunities."

The pair had already made the decision not to compete at the winter Paralympics this year but the military are well represented in Tokyo at the summer Paralympics.
Former paratrooper Jaco van Gass has won two medals in Tokyo – a gold and a bronze with more events still to come.
