Portrait Of A Professional Boxer: Kelly Morgan's Story

Former soldier Kelly Morgan will take on Ghanaian number one Gifty Amanua Ankrah for her first WBC Middleweight title fight in Swindon this weekend.

Morgan has turned to the boxing ring after enjoying a glittering track and field career that saw her win a Commonwealth Games bronze medal for javelin in Manchester in 2002. But the former British record holder was forced to quit the sport due to injury.

During her time as an Army physical training Instructor she went on to be capped by England at netball and play for Super League outfit Team Bath.

Having reached the rank of staff sergeant Morgan quit the military in 2014 and after a year of travelling and soul-searching found her calling in the ring to embark on a new sporting adventure.
