Rugby League: Royal Navy appoint former star player as head coach

Royal Navy Rugby League have announced that Darren Bamford will be the new head coach of the men's senior team.
Steve Lockton stepped down from the role last week – ending a nine-year spell as Navy head coach.
Bamford played a starring role in the Band of Brothers' successful 2022 as they made history in the Challenge Cup and won the Inter Services.

He hung up his boots in September as a player and will look to use his experiences to help the team progress.
Another former player, Wata Robanakadavu, has been promoted from academy coach to Bamford's assistant.
