The tickets for the 2022 Army-Navy rugby union match at Twickenham will not be released in November as usual.

The match committee announced on Friday that tickets will go on sale at the start of next year instead.

This is due to Twickenham hosting a full-capacity match for the first time since the pandemic in November with officials watching closely in the hope of getting 80,000 fans in for the military showpiece in May.

2022 will be the first year that both the men's and women's matches will be played at the home of English rugby.

The 2020 and 2021 events were both postponed due to the pandemic.

In a statement, the Army-Navy Match Committee said: "November will hopefully see Twickenham at full capacity for the Autumn Internationals and after this, the detail planning requirements required for the Army v Navy Match ticketing can be finalised and the ticket on-sale date announced."

The 2022 fixture will be the 103rd match for the men's teams and the 18th match for the women's teams.
