Army v Navy: Date for military's historic rivalry at Twickenham announced

The date for one of rugby union's most historic rivalries has been confirmed for 2024 with the famous Army v Navy game set to return to Twickenham Stadium.

The matches, which will include both men's and women's fixtures, will take place at the home of England Rugby on 4 May.

Traditionally held as the final fixture of the Inter Services, the 2024 Army v Navy fixture will instead take place as the second of three fixtures, with the final Inter Services clash between the Royal Air Force and the Army set to take place at Kingsholm Stadium in Gloucester on 11 May.

This change in scheduling is due to venue availability as well as a desire to give the Inter Services Championships its own window between the end of the Six Nations whilst also the Premiership and European club knockout stages has condensed the Championships into a four-week block.

The first Inter Services clash between the Royal Navy and the RAF will take place on 20 April at Brickfields Stadium in Plymouth.

The Royal Navy men will go into next year's fixture as the reigning Inter Services champions after they beat the Army at Twickenham in a dramatic 39-22 win, their first Inter Services title since 2016, as they embark on a quest for their first back-to-back Inter Services title since 1974.

Meanwhile the Army women are seeking a three-peat of titles since regaining their crown in 2022, with their Inter Services campaign kicking off at Twickenham.

Tickets for the Army v Navy game at Twickenham go on general sale on 30 November, with tickets for the remaining two fixtures going on sale in due course.
