Army v Navy: Jade Mullen prepared for physical Royal Navy test as Army title defence begins
Staff Sergeant Jade Mullen has been a major cog in the British Army's Inter Service-winning machine after tries against the Royal Navy at Twickenham Stadium in 2023 and 2024.
This year, SSgt Mullen is set to lead out the Army again with the reigning champions confident of keeping their trophy - but the Army captain is aware of the threat the Navy can pose.
You can watch both the men's and women's Army v Navy matches live on Saturday - find out more here.
"We expect the Navy to be really physical," said the Army skipper. "Obviously, they've already kicked off the Inter Service against RAF and they brought that to the RAF.
"They'll probably be looking to then up it from there to look and try and get more than one try against us."
The Army's Inter Service preparations ended with a loss against a testing Wales under-20s team and the defensive lessons from that defeat will be key for the Army if they are to win the 2025 championship.
"Yeah, we've really worked on our defence trying to get those double tackles in," said SSgt Mullen.
"So it's a real big significance going into this game. Is our defence better than what it was against Wales on the weekend?"
