RAF lose by one point in thriller against Oxford University

Watch: Action from a thrilling night at Iffley Road.

The RAF men's rugby union team have lost their second match of the season after being beaten by just a point against Oxford University.

A thrilling end-to-end battle saw the students win the game with a late penalty just moments after the RAF thought they'd earned a draw with a 79th-minute try.

In the first meeting between the two teams in nine years, a strong second-half performance from Oxford saw them pull away with a healthy lead.

However, Jordan Oatley's penalty and Marl Williams' try levelled the score before Oxford's late winning kick.

Earlier in the match, Carl Bowling scored a try for the RAF to put them in front before Oxford kicked into gear.

The RAF will hope to start getting some winning momentum with fixtures against Cambridge University and a Leicester Tigers XV before bigger clashes with the French Air Force, Royal Navy and British Army to come.
