Scottish international and RAF rugby star Flight Lieutenant Sarah Bonar has featured for Barbarians Women in their non-cap friendly against a new-look Wales side at Allianz Stadium, Twickenham.

A back row specialist, Flt Lt Bonar joined the impressive line-up which featured players from nine different nations, including New Zealand World Cup-winner and Olympic gold medalist Ruby Tui, Canada's World Cup captain Alex Tessier and Australian flanker Emily Chancellor as captain.

The invitational club took on a rebuilding Welsh team, who went on to win the game by 34-17 - ending their nine-game losing streak.

Flt Lt Bonar's appearance makes her the second servicewoman to represent the Barbarians, following Army player Bethan Dainton's appearance for the invitational side five years ago.

Her appearance came after the 51-capped Scotland international missed the Women's Six Nations with a back injury earlier this year.

There was also RAF representation on the officiating team with Flight Lieutenant Rebecca Piddlesden taking on the role of assistant referee.

Flt Lt Piddlesden made her Women's Six Nations debut as an assistant referee earlier this year.

The Wales match was part of a weekend double-header where the men's squad also took on their Welsh counterparts.
