UK Armed Forces score seven tries in victorious rugby World Cup start against Tonga

Watch: Highlights of UKAF v Tonga.

The UK Armed Forces team has made a winning start to their World Cup campaign in France.

Their opening match of the tournament, which is also known as the International Defence Rugby Competition (IDRC), saw UKAF battle a physical Tonga side.

However, a hat-trick from Kieron Forbes was the pick of seven tries as the British team defeated their opponents who received a red card late on for an awful high tackle.

The UKAF team will now turn their attention to their second pool match against Georgia which is also live on the Forces News YouTube channel.

Coverage begins at 17:45 BST on Wednesday 23 August.

Highlights from UKAF's opening victory can be watched in the video above.
