The UK Armed Forces women's rugby union team have reached the semi-final of the plate competition at the Dubai 7s.

UKAF failed to reach the knock-out stages of the cup competition after opening defeats so entered the plate tournament hunting for success.

A big 42-7 win over Kings College in the quarter-final meant a tie with Savvy Black Panthers in the next round and UKAF fell to a 19-17 loss.

Other results over the weekend saw a 12-12 draw with Artic Sisu 7s, a 24-17 loss to Tropics 7s and a 12-10 defeat to Hong Kong China Dragons.

Over the weekend, the Army's Isabel Bibby, who inspired the rugby league team to Inter Services glory in September, and the RAF's Ceri Parkin, received their caps.
