'We can only build from here': UK Armed Forces Head Coach and Team Captain react to win against Tonga

Watch: UK Armed Forces Head Coach and Team Captain react to win against Tonga.

The Head Coach of the UK Armed Forces Rugby Team, Flight Sergeant Justin Coleman, has hailed their 43-14 win against Tonga as "a good start" to their World Cup campaign after the UK side thrashed their Tongan opponents in their opening pool match.

Speaking to BFBS at the conclusion of their International Defence Rugby Competition (IDRC) opener, Flt Sgt Coleman said: "We came out of the blocks firing which is exactly what we waned the guys to do.

"It was great to get off to a good start and that's going to be key for us to get some points on the board."

Captain of the UK Armed Forces Rugby Team, Flying Officer Dave Manning, said that the team has "got to be happy" with the result with plenty of room to improve.

He said: "It was a really good performance starting out in the tournament.

"A lot of things that probably didn't go to plan and we didn't stick to structure, but to come off with a win like that, we've got to be happy and we can only build from here really."

The UKAF team will now turn their attention to their second pool match against Georgia which is also live on the Forces News YouTube channel.
