Silver success: British Army tug of war reach multiple finals in British and Irish Championships

The British Army women's tug of war team have won three silver medals at the 2024 British and Irish Championships in Melton Mowbray.
On the first day of competition, they represented England B and reached the final in the 560kg tournament but lost to the England A side made up of the Melton Mowbray team.
Elsewhere, in the 560kg open club competition, the Army again reached the final in a tournament of seven teams but lost to a strong Bedford side.
- Military referees part of officiating teams for Carabao Cup first round matches
- Forces athletes take to the water for Inter Services canoe slalom championships
- Royal Air Force karting teams pull an all-nighter to compete in 24-hour race
The Bedford players proved to be a thorn in the Army's side as they knocked them out at the semi final stage in both the 520kg and 500kg tournaments.
The 540kg tournament also saw the Army and Bedford reach the final with the military team losing out again.
The event was the final piece of action for the Army tug of war season.
