Ukrainian MiG-29 pilot performs at low altitude
Ukraine has released footage showing what its pilots are capable of, as it continues to push for allies to send advanced fighter jets.
The country's air force posted a video of one of its pilots flying a MiG-29 at low altitude over what appears to be a river.
So far, Kyiv has only received Soviet-era aircraft from its allies as Russia's invasion moves further into its second year.
In March, Slovakia became the second of Ukraine's allies to provide MiG-29 fighter jets, following Poland.
Slovakia's prime minister said the country would donate 13 of the warplanes, with its defence minister saying delivery would take a "couple of weeks".
The jets sent to Ukraine by Slovakia will be replaced with American F-16s no later than January 2024.
Although the jets are not expected to be a game-changer in the war, the deputy speaker of Ukraine's parliament said she hoped more countries would follow their neighbours' lead.
In a post on Twitter earlier this week, the Ukrainian air force said: "The wide range of the F-16's modern high-precision weapons will allow for inflicting strikes on Russian troops during counter-offensive actions".
It added: "Pilots are hostages of old technologies - the available equipment and armament of Soviet aircraft turn our pilot' missions into mortally dangerous ones, which causes irreparable losses of the best sons of Ukraine."
"Our pilots dream of F-16. They deserve to fly the best jets."
