Infanteers from The Rifles take a break from live-fire exercise to go rock climbing in Kenya

Watch: British Soldiers reach the summit in Kenya

Drone footage has captured the moment dozens of British soldiers reached the summit of a huge rock in the Kenyan savanna.

Members of 3rd Battalion The Rifles, the Army's largest infantry regiment, have been taking part in combined arms live-firing while the battalion is deployed in Kenya for Exercise Askari Storm.

The video was posted to 3 Rifles' official account on X with the caption: "The Riflemen of B Coy take in the Kenyan sunrise before a day of live firing."

According to the British Army website, under an agreement with the Kenyan government, up to six infantry battalions per year carry out eight-week exercises in Kenya.

According to the Army, 3 Rifles is a Security Force Assistance Battalion and consists of around 301 Riflemen, based in Dreghorn Barracks in Edinburgh, and operates within 1st (UK) Division.

Since 2007, 3 Rifles, a mechanised battalion, has deployed on five tours to Iraq and Afghanistan, together with numerous other operations and training missions worldwide, particularly in the Middle East and Eastern Europe.

3 Rifles is one of four newly created Security Force Assistance Battalions within the British Army.

The battalion is focused on training, advising, assisting, accompanying and enabling international partner forces in the Middle East and North Africa.
