Homeward-bound: CSG25 sails past danger zone of Yemen and goes through Suez Canal

The ships of Carrier Strike Group 25 have successfully run the gauntlet of potential Houthi attacks off Yemen and have passed through the Suez Canal.

To get to Suez, the vessels had to sail up the Bab-el-Mandeb – a strait between Yemen on the Arabian Peninsula and Djibouti and Eritrea in the Horn of Africa, and a choke point known for Houthi attacks.

But HMS Prince of Wales, HMS Dauntless and HMNoS Roald Amundsen, accompanied by a US Navy Arleigh Burke-class destroyer, made the transit without incident and is currently in Crete.
