The winner of hit BBC One show The Traitors has thanked the British Army for its support after the airing of the final episode, which saw him deceive his fellow contestant Mollie Pearce and take the entire cash pot of £95,000.

Twenty-three-year-old Lance Corporal Harry Clark, a REME aircraft technician, was asked what it was like after returning to his day job.

He said: "The Army’s been amazing allowing me to set myself up for the future because obviously you can have a full-time career in the Army, but I'm not sure whether that’s going to be my life as such. But they've supported me … trying to set my family up for a better future.

"Honestly, it was weird going back to work Monday to Friday … we had normal work, left, did that amazing experience up in Scotland, but then couldn’t tell anyone, so just went back to work, the weirdest sort of switch, and now it’s gone back to crazy."

For those already missing the drama, there’s good news: the second season of The Traitors Australia has just dropped on BBC iPlayer, and also has a contestant with a military past.

Paul de Gelder was a paratrooper in the Australian army and later a navy bomb disposal diver who lost two limbs when he was attacked by a 9ft bull shark in 2009.

His website says: "Having left full-time navy service in August 2012, after continuing to instruct navy divers for a further three and a half years, Paul has travelled the world as a top motivational speaker, passionate environmentalist, adventurer and mentor to school kids."

How will he get on, and will he be a faithful or a traitor?
