Gurkha Hot Shot Revealed
Catterick's young trainee Gurkhas have been battling it out to reveal the top shot of the class of 2016.
This is Gurkha Company's equivalent of Bisley – the army's flagship annual shooting contest.
For the competitors one of the most important things when shooting under pressure – is the way they breath.
As Capt Gyanbahadur Dhenga, the Second-in-command of Gurkha Company says.
"Without controlling breathing – bullet can go anywhere so before open firing they have to take a long breath, and stop when feel comfortable – that's how can be more accurate."
Gurkha Company's annual shooting contest is a big occasion for the young recruits. By the end of play, four recruits had each achieved the highest possible score.
To select the true champion, the contest went to sudden death. 236 people watched on nervously as the last men standing took their final shots.
The individual top shot's prize is to be plastered in red paint as a sign of victory, and draped in traditional khata scarves – before being paraded around the training area by his superiors.
