Plans For Somme Centenary Commemorations Unveiled

Plans for the commemorations to mark the centenary of the Battle of the Somme in France have been unveiled.

As well as a programme of film, music and poetry, the British Council has organised for 600 schoolchildren from the UK to travel to Thiepval to help tell the story of the 141-day battle, which claimed more than 20,000 British lives on the first day alone.

It comes after new research suggested that more than four in 10 Britons do not know which conflict the battle took place in.

Forces TV's Kate Wathall went to see how one school is preparing for the commemorations.
