Submariners' Remembrance Service & Parade: In Pictures
His Royal Highness The Duke of Cambridge has taken part in the annual ceremony honouring naval personnel who have served and made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
The Duke of Cambridge comforted the widow of a murdered Navy submarine officer, asking her to give her children big hugs from him, after she thanked him for sending a personal letter of condolence.
On his wreath, William left a handwritten tribute to the thousands of submariners who have perished since the service was created in 1901. It said:
"Unseen but not forgotten. William."
During the service, the names of the 167 submarines lost since 1901 were read out.
