King to ride on horseback for Trooping the Colour

The King is to ride on horseback, alongside his son the Prince of Wales, for his first Birthday Parade as sovereign – the first time the reigning monarch has ridden at Trooping the Colour since 1986 when Queen Elizabeth II last rode.
At the Birthday Parade, on Saturday 17 June, His Majesty The King will take the salute as Colonel-in-Chief of the seven regiments of the Household Division.
The parade, which starts at Buckingham Palace, moves down The Mall to Horse Guards Parade, where the King will be greeted by a Royal Salute and carry out an inspection of the military personnel on parade.
His Majesty will be joined by Her Majesty The Queen and Members of the Royal Family to view the 1st Battalion Welsh Guards Troop their Colour.

The Sovereign's Escort will be provided by The Life Guards and The Blues and Royals.
Following the parade, the King, accompanied by the Queen and members of the Royal Family, will return to Buckingham Palace for the march-past and flypast, which will conclude the day's celebrations.
The annual event of Trooping of the Colour has marked the official birthday of the sovereign for more than 260 years.
As part of the Army's modernisation programme, Future Soldier, this year will see all five regiments of Foot Guards of the Household Division in attendance for the first time in more than 30 years and will include more than 1,400 soldiers, 200 horses, and 400 musicians.
