More than 100 military personnel have attended the Royal Ascot Armed Forces Day.

105 members of the Armed Forces attended the final day of Royal Ascot which was again designated as the Armed Forces Day by the racecourse's trustees.

The personnel were at the racecourse to officiate as stewards and to collect money for the three service charities; Royal Navy and Marines Benevolent Fund, The Army Benevolent Fund - The Soldier's Charity and the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund.

Last year, spectators donated £22,000 to the charity, although the amount raised this year has not been confirmed.

On behalf of all three charities, retired Brigadier Peter Walker OBE who is the Berkshire Count Chairman ABF - The Soldiers' Charity, said:

“We are so grateful to the Trustees of Ascot Racecourse and all the racegoers who have been so generous and welcoming today.

"Our charities help the entire military family, from our oldest Second World War Veterans to those serving at home and abroad today, and we simply couldn’t do that without the overwhelming support from the public, as we saw once again today.”
