A concert to commemorate the 75th anniversary of VE Day at the Royal Albert Hall has been postponed over coronavirus, organisers have announced.

Armed Forces charity SSAFA, who set up the 'VE Day 75 With The Daily Mail' concert, said it will now be held on Sunday 20 September.

The concert was due to take place on Friday 8 May - the date of the anniversary.

The performance was also going to be screened at more than 450 cinemas nationwide but that has also postponed.

Organisers have said Royal Albert Hall tickets, already purchased for 8 May, will be valid for the new date and that refunds can also be requested.

While those who purchased cinema tickets for the event are advised to contact their local box office.

SSAFA Chief Executive, Sir Andrew Gregory, said: "In postponing the events planned for 8 May, it will give us the opportunity to celebrate the service of men and women both in 1945 and in 2020.

"I, and all in SSAFA, wish everybody good health and strength."

It comes after the Government announced national VE Day 75 commemorations would be "scaled back" amid the pandemic.
