Deaths Reported After Syria Airstrikes

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says airstrikes and rocket fire by Russia on Monday killed 25 civilians, including seven children.

The Observatory, which relies on sources inside Syria for its information, says it determines who carries out airstrikes according to flight patterns, as well as aircraft and ammunition used.

It is reported Russian Sukhoi jets were responsible for the strikes.

The monitoring group said 13 people died in the village of Jabala.

The Idlib region is dominated by an alliance led by Syria's former Al-Qaeda affiliate.

It is supposed to be protected by a months-old buffer zone deal.

However, hundreds of Idlib residents have been killed since the Russian-backed Syrian government offensive intensified in April.

Relief agencies estimate the bombing has displaced more than 300,000 people.

Analysts predict the regime of Bashar Al-Assad and his Russian allies will continue to chip away at the region, but say it is unlikely to unleash a major assault.
