Forgotten Passchendaele Hero Honoured 100 Years On
In Scotland, a special tribute has been paid to a forgotten war hero, a century after he was killed in the Battle of Passchendaele.
Corporal Robert Beveridge of the 12th Royal Scots' name was left off the memorial of his West Lothian village until 2008, when a campaign to honour him was launched.

Today the residents of Uphall paid their respects to the local man who lost his life in service of his country, fighting on the battlefields.
The whole community turned out to honour Corporal Robert Beveridge MM, who lost his life 100 years ago at Frezenburg, Belgium on the 20th September 1917. He died aged just 24 years old.
The parade and service involved everyone from military personnel to school children, all wishing to show their gratitude.

The school children involved in the service today had been studying Corporal Robert Beveridge's life and his bravery in action as part of their school curriculum. They had been learning how he came to receive his Military Medal and the history of Passchendaele.
No longer left out, Cpl Robert Beveridge’s name was added to the village memorial, in its rightful place next to his fallen brothers-in-arms.
